Got a great price. Huge screen, lots of new features like fingerprint id, & bluetooth for the phone. Not crazy about the touch pad or keyboard.
THIS MODEL CAME WITH WINDOWS VISTA. At the time they offered free upgrade to Windows 7. Cool but forget any help with features like fingerprint ID that didn't work properly. Any software troubles, including Acers, cost $59 1/2 hour to talk to consultant. I'm sure you spend lots of time on hold too. Needless to say I never handled the issue. -- LOADED WITH FEATURES SHORT ON CUSTOMER SUPPORT
"We bought this as a desktop replacement and I have been really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the system. Out of the box it is not as big as I was expecting it to be - it's quite a slim system and is easy to carry around the home. The pictures make it look like it is a bit lacking in style, but I think it is a classy look without trying to overdo the glossy thing.

As far as performance goes, I cannot fault this system. Windows 7 (free upgrade) loads and operates well and I haven't experienced any slow moments. The twin HDDs are great - 2 x 140gb discs for your own files, and then Acer stores the system/restore files on a separate partition.

Screen is bright and glossy, but amazingly compared to my old glossy screened laptop I can use this one outside without any issues at all. When looking at photos, the viewing angle can be a bit temperamental but I couldn't see that as a reason to take any stars off this rating.

The keyboard is great, very easy to use with good bounce back and not at all noisy... although it always takes a while to get used to the positioning of some lesser used keys.

I don't mind the touchpad not being centred in the middle of the laptop - they've actually put it in the middle of the alphanumeric keyboard, and considered the number key pad to be an add on. The touchpad is smooth and easy to use, and I just installed Synaptics latest drivers which are great fun for the finger flick browsing and zoom in out motions etc.

I don't go out using the battery much, but doing lots of web browsing on wireless gave me over 4 hours of battery time which I am very happy with!

Cannot fault this system at all, and at the time the $787 price tag was just too ridiculous to say no to (WHY WAS IT SO LOW, who knows, but I'm glad it was!)"

I am very happy with this acer product Acer has been quite prompt in providing the window 7 upgrade.Everything works very well. The only thing that is a drawback is dividing the harddisk into two C & D. But overall it is an excellent laptop. -- acer 8730-6951
I had purchased an Acer 15" AMD Athlon earlier this year to replace my Dell Vostro that over heated and shut down to often. I was very impressed by the 8 hr battery and how cool it ran. I figured the Toshiba satellite would be even better with the Intell processor and Toshiba quality. I replaced th Acer. My toshiba kicked the AMD on windows performance score but overheated. I sold it the second month I had it and went and reviewed the Acer brand again. This model had the Intel processor and 4 gig ram etc. I loved the thing for it ran well a few pauses etc this week. Today it would not boot tried various recovery techniques. None worked so far. I dont like buying a computer that does not have OS on CD or DVD etc. so I am mixed I will try another and see what happens. -- COOL RUNNING MACHINE WITH CRAPPY OS WITH VISTA
The main reason for purchasing this laptop is due to the price in comparison to the size of the screen. To be fair it does not disappoint.

The only gripe (as with dell and every other manufacturer), they fill the laptop with loads of software that you don't want, and make it hard to get rid of it.

Luckily all that was solved with an upgrade to Windows 7. With the free upgrade Acer provided all the drivers to ensure all the hardware worked correctly. This luckily got rid of all the pre-loaded software. Well done Acer!

If you buy an Acer with Windows Vista from June 26, 2009 to January 31, 2010 can get a free upgrade to Windows 7. They say it is free, but still charge $20 P&P. Still better than buying it outright.

In summary, buy the laptop then order your free Windows 7 upgrade to get rid of all the annoying the software. You've then got a great laptop which is ready to go.
